"The primary goal of the First Asia-Pacific Biennial Review is to evaluate the progress made since the adoption of the DPoA in 2022. As the inaugural session, it aims to establish a baseline for tracking progress and proposing strategic actions. The Review will also highlight successes and challenges and discuss ways to strengthen the region’s collective efforts towards fulfilling the Programme’s objectives. By reflecting on achievements and identifying the persistent challenges facing Asia-Pacific LDCs, the review seeks to provide actionable insights and recommendations that will support the sustainable development of the region’s LDCs."

30 August - 2 September 2021. The Asia-Pacific Regional Review will undertake a comprehensive appraisal of the implementation of the Istanbul Programme of Action in Asia-Pacific LDCs, share best practices and lessons learned and identify obstacles and constraints encountered. The meeting will identify effective international and domestic policies in the light of the outcome of the appraisal as well as new and emerging challenges and opportunities and the means to address them. It is further expected to put forward specific recommendations on strategies and policy measures at the national, regional and global levels to accelerate the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals by the Asia-Pacific LDCs.

28 April 2021. In the context of UNESCAP's 77th Commission Session, this meeting will "bring forth policy messages that are specific to LDCs, of which 5 are also small island developing States (SIDS) and 4 are landlocked developing countries (LLDCs). The Commission is invited to deliberate on the policy priorities highlighted in Document ESCAP/77/4, Summary of the Asia-Pacific Countries with Special Needs Development Report 2021: Strengthening the Resilience of LDCs in the Wake of the Coronavirus Pandemic, and provide further guidance to the secretariat as to which of these should be explored further, with a view to implementing them at the country-level. This would facilitate the secretariat in giving shape to its forthcoming analytical work, and more importantly, in planning and formulating technical assistance and capacity building projects for LDCs."
