"WTO members discussed trade issues of interest to least developed countries (LDCs), Aid for Trade support, WTO technical assistance and a range of other development topics during Development Week, held at the WTO from 16 to 18 June. Members also examined the WTO Secretariat’s note on special and differential treatment provisions in the Agreement on Agriculture and the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS), as well as the WTO Technical Assistance Report 2024."

WTO members agree to extend TRIPS transition period for LDCs until 1 July 2034

30 June 2021. From the WTO: WTO members agreed to extend until 1 July 2034 the deadline for least developed countries (LDCs) to protect intellectual property under the WTO’s Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS). Members reached consensus on the 13-year extension of the current transition period, which was set to expire on 1 July 2021, at a formal meeting of the TRIPS Council on 29 June. 11 December 2020. Two proposals were submitted recently by the LDC group at the WTO seek the extension of LDC support measures under the WTO for a period after graduation:
