Peace and Security [Women and Youth], Middle East<\/span><\/h3>\nSara Al-Emadi is an adviser in the Office of the President of the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly. She leads in issues related to women, peace and security, youth, peace, and security, and the Middle East in general. This extends to covering issues of sexual or gender-based violence, children in armed conflict, and threats to culture of peace and education in times of conflict.<\/p>\n
Sara is a career diplomat in the Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She is an appointed government expert for the United Nation Convention against Corruption, she is also a Counsellor for the Election Division, covering a wide range of elections in International Organizations and Specialized Agencies, along with International Conferences.<\/p>\n
Her prior experience includes working as an adviser on the principle of the Responsibility to Protect (covering themes such as genocide, war crimes, ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity), adviser on Sustainable Development Goal 4 (ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all) in the context of conflict zones and counter-terrorism, and adviser to the International Organizations and Specialized Agencies section covering United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crimes (UNODC), and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). She was part of Qatar\u2019s delegation to the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly (Third Committee), covering social, humanitarian, and cultural issues.<\/p>\n
She co-created the Duende project, an innovative initiative that addresses the social exclusion and stigmatization of children born of war in Uganda through arts education.<\/p>\n
She is a native Arabic speaker, fluent in English.<\/p>\n
