On the margins of the United Nations High-Level Counter-Terrorism Week, a dedicated side event titled “Addressing the proliferation of small arms and light weapons in Latin America and the Caribbean as a key component of counter-terrorism” will be held on Thursday, 2 July 2026 from 08:00 – 09:30am EDT. The side event will take place at the Permanent Mission of Jamaica to the United Nations and will also be accessible via Microsoft Teams.

CTED at side events for 2026 Counter-Terrorism Week
The Fourth United Nations Counter-Terrorism Week will be held from Friday, 26 June to Thursday, 2 July 2026. The theme is “A Future Free from Terrorism: Consolidating the Global Commitment to Multi-Stakeholder Approaches to Counter Terrorism through Member States’ Leadership and Action,” and will be complemented by a number of side events, which will facilitate discussion of key counter-terrorism priorities under the four pillars of the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy.
