From Philippe Lazzarini, the UNRWA Commissioner-General as posted on his official X account (previously known as Twitter)
With heavy rain and cold brought in by Storm Byron, people in the Gaza Strip are freezing to death.
The waterlogged ruins where they are sheltering are collapsing, causing even more exposure to cold.
Aid workers are struggling to keep pace with the needs, amid continued restrictions on bringing tents and other shelter materials into Gaza.
Our supplies have now been waiting for months to enter Gaza. They would cover the needs of hundreds of thousands of people in desperation.
Aid must be allowed in at scale, without delay, to prevent putting more displaced families at serious risk.
