\t<\/span>On instructions from my Government and further to our letter of <\/span>24 <\/span>July 1975 (<\/span>A\/1O161 – S\/11776<\/a>), <\/span>I <\/span>have the honour to bring to your attention the following:<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

\t<\/span>On 5 August 1975, at dawn, Israeli forces launched a land, sea and air attack on the town of Tyre (Sour). The attack was supported by Israeli artillery which shelled the town and its surrounding fields, and the Palestinian refugee camp of El-Bass. As a result of this attack, four Lebanese officers were killed and a fifth was wounded when their barracks were hit by a shell fired by the Israeli forces. Furthermore, two civilians were killed and a third wounded. Fifteen houses were destroyed and two motor vehicles were damaged as well. The home of the Mayor of Tyre was also hit.<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>On the same day, at 1300 hours, the Israeli air force bombarded and strafed the southern Lebanese villages of Burghuliyeh, Chouran, Bourj Rahhal and Qasimiyeh. As a result, five civilians were killed, 10 were wounded and considerable damage was done to the fields in the area.<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>The Lebanese Government strongly protests against these bestial, repeated and concentrated acts of aggression committed by Israel in flagrant violation of the Armistice Agreement of 1949 and of the numerous Security Council resolutions which pave condemned Israel for previous and similar acts. These attacks exacerbate the Middle East situation and will only contribute to undermine the efforts aimed at achieving peace in the region.<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>I have the honour to request that this letter be circulated as an official document of the General Assembly and of the Security Council.<\/p><\/div>\n
