10\/13.  Activities of the International Year of Shelter<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n

for the Homeless in the occupied Palestinian territories<\/u>*<\/p><\/div>\n

The Commission on Human Settlements<\/u>,<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

Recalling<\/u> General Assembly resolution 41\/181 of 8 December 1986 on assistance to the Palestinian people,<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

Recalling also<\/u> its resolution 9\/11 of 16 May 1986 on activities for the International Year of Shelter for the Homeless in the occupied Palestinian territories,<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

Taking note with appreciation<\/u> of the report of the Executive Director of the United Nations Centre for Human Settlements (Habitat) on institutions and instruments needed for financing and implementing a housing programme in the occupied Palestinian territories, a<\/u>\/<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

Recalling<\/u> Security Council resolution 465 (1980), in which the Israeli settlement policies were considered illegal and a serious obstacle to peace,<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

Noting with grave concern<\/u> the continuation of the Israeli settlement policies in the occupied Palestinian territories,<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

1. Strongly deplores<\/u> the settlement policies of the Israeli occupation authorities in the occupied Palestinian territories;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

2. Calls for<\/u> an immediate halt to the establishment of new Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories and for the dismantling of existing ones;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

3. Strongly<\/u> opposes the demolition and sealing off of Palestinian houses by the Israeli occupation authorities;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

4. Reiterates<\/u> its request to the Executive Director of the United Nations Centre for Human Settlements (Habitat) to report on the actions taken by him for implementing the proposals contained in his report on activities for the International Year of Shelter for the Homeless in the occupied Palestinian territories submitted at the ninth session; b<\/u>\/<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

5. Requests<\/u> the Executive Director to prepare a study on housing requirements of a future independent Palestinian State on the Palestinian national soil;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

6. Also requests<\/u> the Executive Director to continue his efforts for the provision of assistance to the Palestinian people in co-operation with the Palestine Liberation Organization;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

7. Further requests<\/u> the Executive Director to report to the Commission on Human Settlements at its twelfth session on the progress made in the implementation of the present resolution.<\/p><\/div>\n
