SUB-COMMISSION UNDER COMMISSION ON HUMAN RIGHTS RESOLUTION 8 (XXIII)<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

Letter dated 20 July 1992 from the Permanent Observer<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

of Palestine to the United Nations Office at Geneva addressed<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

to the Under-Secretary-General for Human Rights<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\t<\/span>After the Israeli military siege, which lasted five days, against the Al-Najah National University, as well as the siege of the city of Nablus within that period, the Israeli occupation authorities deported, on 17 July 1992, six Palestinian students from their homeland.  The deported students are:  Abdallah Daoud, Bilal Duweikat, Nasser Owais, Yasser Al-Badawi, Majed Al-Masri and Mohammed Tayem.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>This deportation, perpetrated by the Government of Yitzhak Rabin following the siege of the Al-Najah University and of the city of Nablus, which caused suffering to thousands of citizens, is clear evidence of the systematic policy of grave violations of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949, of the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the bases of international law.  This policy has been applied by different Israeli Governments, whether they are led by the Likud or the Labour Party, for the past 25 years.<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>We kindly request you to present this memorandum as an official document of the Sub-Commission on Prevention of Discrimination and Protection of Minorities, as well as of the Commission on Human Rights, at their coming sessions.<\/p><\/div>\n
