Adopted by the Security Council at its 2822nd meeting<\/i><\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>The Security Council,<\/i><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Taking note<\/i> of paragraph 23 of the Secretary-General's report on the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon 1<\/u>\/ concerning the abduction of Lieutenant-Colonel William Richard Higgins, a military observer of the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization serving with the Force,<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Recalling<\/i> the Secretary-General's special report on the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, 2<\/u>\/<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Recalling also<\/i> its resolution 579 (1985) of 18 December 1985, which, inter alia<\/i>, condemned unequivocally all acts of hostage-taking and abduction and called for the immediate release of all hostages and abducted persons wherever and by whomever they are being held,<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>1.\t<\/span>Condemns<\/i> the abduction of Lieutenant-Colonel Higgins;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>2.\t<\/span>Demands<\/i> his immediate release;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>3.\t<\/span>Calls upon<\/i> Member States to use their influence in any way possible to promote the implementation of the present resolution.<\/p><\/div>\n
