\t\t<\/span>Report of the Credentials Committee<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

\t\t<\/span>Chairman<\/i>: Mr. Isikia Rabici Savua<\/strong> (Fiji)<\/p><\/div>\n

\n\t\t\t\t1.\t<\/span>At its 1st plenary meeting, on 16 September 2003, the General Assembly, in accordance with rule 28 of its rules of procedure, appointed a Credentials Committee for its fifty-eighth session consisting of the following Member States: Antigua and Barbuda, Cape Verde, China, Costa Rica, Ethiopia, Fiji, New Zealand, the Russian Federation and the United States of America.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t2.\t<\/span>The Credentials Committee held its meeting on 11 December 2003.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t3.\t<\/span>Mr. Isikia Rabici Savua (Fiji) was unanimously elected Chairman.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t4.\t<\/span>The Committee had before it a memorandum by the Secretary-General, dated 9 December 2003, concerning the credentials of representatives of Member States to the fifty-eighth regular session of the General Assembly. The Legal Counsel made a statement concerning the information contained in the memorandum of the Secretary-General.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t5.\t<\/span>As indicated in paragraph 1 of the memorandum of the Secretary-General, formal credentials in the form required by rule 27 of the rules of procedure of the General Assembly had been submitted by the following 130 Member States: Albania, Algeria, Andorra, Angola, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Barbados, Belgium, Belize, Bhutan, Bolivia, Botswana, Brunei Darussalam, Burundi, Cambodia, Canada, Cape Verde, Chile, China, Costa Rica, Côte d’Ivoire, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Fiji, Finland, France, Gabon, Gambia, Germany, Ghana, Grenada, Guatemala, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Guyana, Haiti, Hungary, Iceland, Indonesia, Iran (Islamic Republic of), Iraq, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Jordan, Kenya, Lebanon, Lesotho, Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Madagascar, Malawi, Malaysia, Maldives, Mali, Malta, Mauritania, Mexico, Micronesia (Federated States of), Monaco, Mongolia, Morocco, Mozambique, Myanmar, Namibia, Nauru, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Norway, Oman, Pakistan, Panama, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Republic of Moldova, Saint Lucia, Samoa, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Serbia and Montenegro, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Solomon Islands, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Suriname, Sweden, Switzerland, Syrian Arab Republic, Tajikistan, Thailand, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Togo, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Tunisia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Republic of Tanzania, United States of America, Uzbekistan, Yemen and Zimbabwe.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t6.\t<\/span>As indicated in paragraph 2 of the Secretary-General’s memorandum, information concerning the appointment of their representatives to the fifty-eighth session of the General Assembly had been communicated to the Secretary-General by means of a facsimile communication from the Head of State or Government or Minister for Foreign Affairs or by means of a letter or note verbale from the Permanent Mission concerned by the following 61 Member States: Afghanistan, Antigua and Barbuda, Armenia, Bahamas, Bangladesh, Belarus, Benin, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Colombia, Comoros, Congo, Cuba, Djibouti, Dominica, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Estonia, Georgia, Greece, Honduras, India, Kazakhstan, Kiribati, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Latvia, Liberia, Marshall Islands, Mauritius, Niger, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, Peru, Republic of Korea, Romania, Russian Federation, Rwanda, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Seychelles, Somalia, Swaziland, Timor-Leste, Tuvalu, Uganda, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Uruguay, Vanuatu, Venezuela, Viet Nam and Zambia.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t7.\t<\/span>The Chairman then proposed the following draft resolution for adoption by the Committee:\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>“The Credentials Committee<\/i>,\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>“Having examined <\/i>the credentials of the representatives to the fifty-eighth session of the General Assembly of the Member States referred to in paragraphs 5 and 6 of the report of the Credentials Committee,1\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>“Accepts<\/i>, the credentials of the representatives of the Member States concerned.”\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t8.\t<\/span>The draft resolution proposed by the Chairman was adopted without a vote.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t9.\t<\/span>The Chairman then proposed that the Committee should recommend to the General Assembly the adoption of a draft resolution (see para. 11). The proposal was adopted without a vote.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t10.\t<\/span>In the light of the foregoing, the present report is submitted to the General Assembly.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

\t\t<\/span>Recommendation of the Credentials Committee<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n\t\t\t\t11.\t<\/span>The Credentials Committee recommends to the General Assembly the adoption of the following draft resolution:\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>Having considered <\/i>the report of the Credentials Committee and the recommendation contained therein,1\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>Approves <\/i>the report of the Credentials Committee.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
