Further report on the status of the cease-fire<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n

in the Middle East<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>The Chief of Staff of UNTSO has submitted the following report on development in the Israel-Lebanon sector during the period 24 February to 2 March 1975:<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

1.\t<\/span>Activity in the sector during the period under review remained at a very low level.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

2.\t<\/span>Israel forces personnel continued to occupy during daylight hours five positions on the Lebanese side of the armistice demarcation line (ADL).  The positions near border pillars 11 (AMR 1799-2788), 1<\/u>\/ 18  (AMR 1800-2740), 19 (AMR 1907-2749) and 33 (AMR 2004-2904) were occupied daily, and the position near border pillar 14 (AMR 1838-2734) was occupied on 24 and 25 February and 2 March.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

3.\t<\/span>There were three cases of firing across the ADL and one crossing violation. OP Hin (AMR 1770-2790), east of the village of Marouahine, reported machine-gun fire on 28 February and Artillery fire on 2 March, both by Israel forces. OP Ras (AMR 1920-2785), south-east of the village of Maroun Er Ras, reported machine-gun fire by Israel forces on 24 February. Naqoura Outstation (AMR 1629-2805), on the coast near the village of Naqoura, reported that an Israel forces naval vessel penetrated Lebanese territorial waters on 25 February.<\/p><\/div>\n

4.\t<\/span>No overflights were reported during the period.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

5.\t<\/span>The Lebanese authorities submitted 16 complaints during the period under review as follows:<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

\t<\/span>(a) Six complaints ere submitted alleging that Israel forces fire had fallen on Lebanese territory. Two of these complaints were confirmed by United Nations observation, except for damage.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

\t<\/span>(b) One complaint concerned an Israel forces jet aircraft overflight. The complaint was not confirmed.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

\t<\/span>(c) Two complaints concerned Israel forces light aircraft overflights.  The complaints were not confirmed.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

\t<\/span>(d)\t<\/span>Seven complaints were submitted alleging that Israel forces patrols had daily penetrated Lebanese territory in the region of Chebaa (AMR 2200-3055). Two of these complaints were confirmed by UNTSO mobile patrols. The remaining complaints were not confirmed; the location of the alleged incidents was outside United Nations observation range.<\/p><\/div>\n
