\t<\/span>I have the honour to present, for transmission to the President of the Security Council, the following communication from the Government of Lebanon concerning the 16 November resolution of the Security Council.<\/p><\/div>\n

TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE SECURITY COUNCIL<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>I have the honour to inform you that the following communication has been received on 11 December from the Government of Lebanon in response to my letter of 17 November relative to the resolution of the Security Council of 16 November.<\/p><\/div>\n

LEBANON TO THE ACTING MEDIATOR CONCERNING THE RESOLUTION OF<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

THE SECURITY COUNCIL OF 16 NOVEMBER<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

Paris, 11 December 1948<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

\t<\/span>I have the honour to refer to the communication dated 17 November which you were good enough to address to the Lebanese Government concerning the resolution adopted on 17 November 1948 regarding the Truce in Palestine.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>I am persuaded you will agree that it is essential, before the provisions laid down in the said resolution are considered, that the measures relating to the Truce should be implemented.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>The Jewish forces having crossed the Lebanese frontier and occupied a number of villages, it is essential that those forces should be withdrawn delay.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>When the evacuation of Lebanese territory has been carried out, the Lebanese Government will be prepared to appoint an army officer to get in touch with the Chief of Staff of the United Nations Observers.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>In the hope of receiving a favourable reply to the present communication,<\/p><\/div>\n
