Qatar Condemns the Israeli Arrest of
\nSpeaker of Palestinian Legislative Assembly
\n(Date 6\/8\/2006) <\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\nThe State of Qatar has condemned and denounced the arrest by the Israeli occupation forces of Mr. Abdul Aziz Alduwaik, Speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Assembly, an official source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated to Qatar News Agency.<\/p><\/div>\n

The official source added that the arrest of the Speaker of the Palestinian National Assembly constituted a flagrant violation of all international laws and conventions as well as agreements concluded by the Palestinian and Israeli sides and an attempt by Israel to undermine institutions of the National Palestinian Authority with a view to creating a new status leading to a political vacuum in the Palestinian field.<\/p><\/div>\n

The official source demanded that the international community intervene and exercise pressure on Israel to force it to release the Speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Assembly and the Members of the Assembly, Ministers and chairmen and members of municipal councils already arrested by Israel, as well as take necessary measures to protect the Palestinian people and their national and constitutional institutions from repeated Israeli aggressions.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n
