New UNDP Special Representative arrives<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

at the occupied Palestinian territory<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Jerusalem, February 14<\/strong><\/i>th<\/strong><\/i>, 2011 <\/strong><\/i>– UNDP Administrator, Helen Clark, appointed Mr. Frode Mauring as her Special Representative in the occupied Palestinian territory, to replace Mr. Jens Toyberg-Frandzen, who retired at the end of September 2010 and Mr. Timothy Rothermel who was serving as Special Representative at interim during the transition phase.<\/p><\/div>\n

Mr. Mauring assumed his responsibilities on Friday 11 February 2011. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Mauring was UNDP Resident Representative and UN Resident Coordinator in Russia, Kosovo and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

“I am humbled by the opportunity of the challenging task at hand,” said Mr. Mauring. “UNDP will continue its commitment in serving the Palestinian people and Government in preparing for statehood”.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Prior to joining the UN, he worked in banking, international consulting in development and transition countries before eventually serving four years as managing director\/CEO of a large cement corporation in Angola. His work experience extends to 15 different countries in four continents.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

A Norwegian national, Mr. Mauring holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, Philosophy and Social Anthropology followed by a BSC in Business Administration and a Masters in International Management.<\/p><\/div>\n
