Gaza: UN aid official condemns rocket attack on border crossing with Israel<\/strong><\/span> <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

25 June 2007 <\/i><\/span>– <\/i><\/span>The United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator for the occupied Palestinian territory <\/span>has condemned today’s rocket attacks that led to the closure of the Kerem Shalom border crossing between Israel and the Gaza Strip. <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

Kevin Kennedy said in a statement issued in Jerusalem that “such attacks are completely unacceptable and endanger the provision of vital humanitarian assistance to the civilian population of Gaza.” <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Kerem Shalom is one of the few crossings between Israel and Gaza, where UN relief officials have warned critical food shortages are looming because of restrictions or closures of crossings since deadly intra-Palestinian fighting erupted earlier this month. <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

In his statement Mr. Kennedy called on all parties to respect international humanitarian law, adding that he continued to work to ensure appropriate security and access conditions for the passage of humanitarian goods through the crossing points.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
