Statement by the UN Special Co-ordinator<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

Gaza- 19 June 2002 –  UNSCO – The following is a statement made today by the United Nations Special Co-ordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Mr. Terje Roed-Larsen:<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

UN Special Co-ordinator Terje Roed-Larsen reiterated his longstanding condemnation of terrorist attacks in light of this afternoon's attack in Jerusalem.  He stressed that both he and the Secretary-General had clearly and repeatedly labeled such attacks against civilians as morally repugnant and in violation of international law.  Such attacks, he stated, cannot be endured, and must stop.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Prior to today's attack, Mr. Roed-Larsen had met with Chairman Arafat and other senior PA officials, including security officials, and stressed that all terrorist attacks must end.<\/p><\/div>\n
