UN<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:left;font-size:8pt;font-family:Verdana, san-serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">7 February 2008 &#8211; Some 37 trucks carrying supplies made it into Gaza from Israel today, but the Office of the United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process (UNSCO) noted that while that is an improvement, it is far from what is required to meet current needs. <\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:left;padding-top:8px;font-size:8pt;font-family:Verdana, san-serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">The trucks were carrying paper for schoolbooks, from the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), as well as sugar and wheat flour from the World Food Programme (WFP). &nbsp;Commercial imports of dairy products and frozen meat also made it through. <\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:left;padding-top:8px;font-size:8pt;font-family:Verdana, san-serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">Earlier this week, 31 truckloads of aid and commercial goods arrived into Gaza through the Sufa and Karni crossings. <\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:left;padding-top:8px;font-size:8pt;font-family:Verdana, san-serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">UN agencies&#8217; stocks of essential goods in Gaza have been dwindling for several weeks, ever since Israeli authorities imposed tight restrictions on entry to and exit from the area where an estimated 1.4 million Palestinians live. <\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:left;padding-top:8px;font-size:8pt;font-family:Verdana, san-serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">Meanwhile, the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said that because of continued fuel reductions from Israel, the majority of Gazan households are still dealing with power cuts lasting eight hours a day. <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>More aid trucks enter Gaza from Israel but supplies nowhere near enough &#8211;
