FOREIGN SECRETARY COMMENTS ON GAZA <\/strong><\/span>(17\/06\/07)
\n<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

Today Foreign Secretary, Margaret Beckett, arrived in Luxembourg to attend the meeting of the General Affairs and External Relations Council. On the ongoing situation in Gaza she commented as follows:<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

'The violence we have seen in Gaza and the consequent threat to regional stability is a cause of deep concern to us all.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

'The Emergency Government which has been sworn in today has our full support. We welcome the conclusions reached by the Arab League at their meeting on Friday including the need for reconciliation and dialogue.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

'It is important that the EU demonstrates its practical support for the Palestinian people.'<\/p><\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n
