Q. – Today, Friday, France announced that it was going to try again to get a resolution adopted establishing the broad outlines of a settlement of the Israel-Palestine conflict. How do you intend to go about this?<\/i><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

THE MINISTER – One of your colleagues questioned me and I said that we were going to continue the policy we had already been following before the Christmas period. We said at the time – and I stand by this analysis – that there must of course be negotiation between Israel and Palestine if we want to find a solution, but that, in the past, this negotiation had never succeeded and so the international community needed to encourage this negotiation.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

The right way to do so is for the United Nations Security Council to adopt parameters for a solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict. In the coming days and weeks we're going to contact our various partners and work to try and secure this resolution.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

I hope that the other Security Council members will join us, because the only path possible is peace. There must be two states, we must find ways to solutions, otherwise there will be a further source of tension, potentially a very serious one, in the Middle East.\/.<\/p><\/div>\n
