AT DEATH OF FAISAL AL-HUSSEINI<\/u><\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>The following statement was issued today by the Office of the Spokesman for Secretary-General Kofi Annan:<\/p><\/div>\n

\n\t\t\t\tThe Secretary-General was profoundly saddened by the sudden death of Faisal al-Husseini.  He extends his heartfelt condolences to the family of Mr. al-Husseini, and to the Palestinian people for the loss of one of their most distinguished and principled leaders.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\tFaisal al-Husseini embodied the aspirations of his people, and infused their cause with integrity and justice.  The Secretary-General calls on leaders on both sides of the conflict to pay tribute to Mr. al-Husseini's legacy by redoubling their own efforts to end the violence and work towards a just and secure peace for both peoples.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
