7 October 2023, New York:<\/em> Today, the UN Palestinian Rights Committee Chair, Ambassador Cheikh Niang issued the following statement on Committee’s official X account<\/a> (previously known as Twitter).:<\/p>\n

\n

I am <\/span>extremely concerned<\/span> by the alarming security situation prevailing in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territory.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

I second the UN Secretary-General in <\/span>strongly condemning the deadly attacks<\/span> this morning by Palestinian militants, which have killed and injured many civilians in Israel. Attacks against civilians, including retaliations, are contrary to international law under any circumstance. I also join the Secretary-General\u2019s <\/span>call for restraint<\/span> from all parties to avoid further loss of life.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

This proves again that only negotiations based on the <\/span>two-state solution<\/span> will ensure a <\/span>lasting peace<\/span> between Israelis and Palestinians.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
