The Human Rights Council<\/h3>\n

The Special Procedures of the UN Human Rights Council<\/a> involve various independent human rights experts who monitor and report on human rights issues globally, including the situation in the occupied Palestinian territory. These experts gather information, engage with various stakeholders, and report their findings to the UN Human Rights Council, aiming to highlight concerns and recommend improvements. The mechanisms are intended to address both specific incidents and systemic issues affecting human rights in the occupied Palestinian territory.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Providing Assistance, Promoting Development, Building Institutions<\/strong><\/h2><\/div>

The UN Country Team (UNCT OPT<\/a>) brings together over 20 UN agencies active on the ground, working in areas as diverse as refugees (UNRWA<\/a>), education and culture (UNESCO<\/a>), children (UNICEF<\/a>), humanitarian issues (UNSCO<\/a>, OCHA<\/a>), gender (UN Women<\/a>), development (UNDP<\/a>), health (WHO<\/a>), food and agriculture (FAO<\/a>, WFP<\/a>), housing (UN HABITAT<\/a>), human rights (OHCHR<\/a>), labour relations (ILO<\/a>), population (UNFPA<\/a>), unexploded remnants of war (UNMAS<\/a>), drugs control (UNODC<\/a>), and more. \"unrwa-small\"United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA<\/a>) by far the biggest UN operation in the Middle East, provides education, health, relief and social services for over 5 million Palestine refugees in Jordan, Lebanon, the Syrian Arab Republic, Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.<\/p>\n<\/div>

\"undp_small\"United Nations Development Programme\/Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People (UNDP\/PAPP<\/a>) has gained considerable experience through its decades of efforts to assist the Palestinian people.<\/p>\n<\/div>

The Office of the UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process<\/a> coordinates the UN humanitarian and development assistance to the Palestinians.<\/p>\n<\/div>
