On 27 January 2026, in the General Assembly Hall of United Nations Headquarters in New York, the United Nations will observe the International Day of Commemoration in memory of the victims of the Holocaust. Four Holocaust survivors will share their experiences of the Holocaust.

26 January 2026 - Panel Discussion: Technology, Memory, and the Future of Holocaust Remembrance

A high-level panel explores how emerging technologies, including AI, gaming, and VR, can preserve Holocaust memory, counter denial and distortion, and combat the spread of hate.

16 June 2025 - Special Remembrance Event on Anne Frank

On 16 June 2025, the Holocaust and the United Nations Outreach Programme brought together Permanent Representatives, delegates and United Nations staff to remember the life and legacy of Anne Frank.

Working Paper | Sustainable Digital Futures for Holocaust Memory and Education

Adopting a future studies methodology, the working paper offers a series of recommendations directed specifically at funders and policymakers regarding how they can support the sustainability of digital Holocaust memory and education.

21 April 2025 - Presentation and Panel Discussion: "Dedication"

The event comprised an educational presentation by Mr. Roger Peltzman followed by a panel discussion, on the Holocaust and its enduring impact. Mr. Peltzman, a pianist, educator and son of a Holocaust survivor, presented a storytelling programme recounting the experience of his uncle, Norbert Stern, a young Belgian pianist murdered during the Holocaust.

Through tracing the story of the Stolpersteine (stumbling stones), Here Lived focuses on the generational trauma suffered by families impacted by atrocities perpetrated by the Nazis during the Second World War. 

2 March 2025 - Film Screening and Discussion: Bau, Artist at War

Bau, Artist at War is based on the true love story of Joseph and Rebecca Bau, whose wedding took place in secret in the Plaszow concentration camp during the Holocaust. Using his artistic skills and sense of humour in the camps, Joseph manages to stay alive and ultimately helps hundreds to escape.

Saints and Liars tells the stories of American aid workers during the Holocaust and, exploring their experiences, illuminates the moral questions they encountered, the devastating decisions they had to make, and the role of unpredictable and irrational factors on the ground, at a particular moment, in shaping individual fates.

27 January 2025 - United Nations Holocaust Memorial Ceremony

The United Nations Holocaust Memorial Ceremony in observance of the International Day of Commemoration in memory of the victims of the Holocaust takes place on 27 January 2025, the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz on 27 January 1945.
