Hear Us.

Act Now for a Peaceful World

The future is young. Half the world is under 30 and this generation is emerging as a powerful force for peace in a world marred by conflict and injustice.

Across the globe, young people are organizing protests, sparking global movements, and forging bonds of solidarity. In communities ravaged by violence, they serve as peacemakers, peacekeepers and peacebuilders, laying the groundwork for a resilient tomorrow. They have the greatest stake in our common future, yet they are too often excluded from the spaces where solutions are shaped.

The United Nations Hear Us. Act Now for a Peaceful World campaign, launched on the International Day of Peace, aims to change that by including, investing in and partnering with young people everywhere to build lasting peace.

Hear Us. Act Now for a Peaceful World is a global campaign led by the United Nations and its youth partners.

The campaign is based on the premise that peace is more than the absence of conflict—it’s a life with dignity, justice and security. Through public advocacy and social mobilization, the campaign is driven by the agency of young people everywhere as powerful changemakers who are demanding to be seen, heard and trusted as partners in building the peaceful future.

At the heart of the campaign are Peace Circles—inclusive intergenerational dialogues, coalition-building opportunities and solutions facilitated by youth and allies across the globe.

Working with and for young people

“We are not just numbers or headlines. We are people: mothers, fathers, children—trying to survive and protect one another in impossible conditions. The world must see us, hear us, and stand with humanity. Support humanitarian work. Advocate for safe access. And most importantly, don’t let Gaza be forgotten,” says Dr. Tasneem Aboalkomboz.

Twenty-seven-year-old Aboalkomboz, a general physician, shares the realities of serving as a in the besieged coastal strip.

They are standing on the right side of history.

From classrooms to rural centres, from city streets to social feeds, young people and grassroots youth organizations are demanding change, challenging injustice and driving solutions for a more just and peaceful future. Refusing to be sidelined, with courage and conviction they are proving every day that youth are not just leaders of tomorrow, but changemakers today.

This month we shine a light on the United Network of Young Peacebuilders (UNOY), leading the way by building a world free from violence.

All around the world, Allies in Action are working hand in hand with young people – from youth-led groups to civil society to the United Nations. Together, they are creating space for youth voices, lifting their solutions and bringing their leadership to the global stage.

This month, we spotlight the UN Youth Office.
