Pelumi Salako is an independent journalist and documentary photographer from Nigeria covering development, culture, technology, security, human rights, global health, and climate change in Nigeria and across West Africa for international media outlets, such as Al Jazeera, the Associated Press, Thomson Reuters Foundation, The Guardian, National Public Radio, Devex, and Foreign Policy. He has extensively covered LGBTQ+ struggles in Nigeria and Ghana, the impact of rising sea levels on small coastal communities, gender inequality, and the farmer-herder crisis. In 2023, he received the Future Africa Award for Journalism for his excellence in storytelling and impactful reporting.
