Strengthening forest landscape restoration in Malawi
The Government of Malawi, in collaboration with the United Nations Forum on Forests Secretariat (UNFFS), the ), and the , will convene a National Capacity Building and Consultation Workshop to finalise the National Strategy on Integrated Forest Landscape Restoration (IFLR).
Multi-stakeholder participation
The workshop will bring together around 40 participants from government institutions, academia, civil society, development partners, and UN agencies. It will serve as a platform to validate the draft national strategy and strengthen the capacity of national and district-level stakeholders to plan and implement IFLR in Malawi.
Advancing sustainable forest management
The workshop is organised under the UNFF Secretariat project Turning the tide on deforestation: Building partnerships to combat intensifying impacts of climate change, forest fires and zoonotic diseases, funded by the United Nations Development Account. The project supports Malawi in developing an integrated forest restoration strategy and financing framework to advance sustainable forest management and contribute to the achievement of the Global Forest Goals and the Sustainable Development Goals.
