Forest Fires: Preparedness and Innovative Technologies

The Government of T眉rkiye hosted a Country-Led Initiative (CLI) in support of the thematic priorities of UNFF21, focusing on 鈥�Forest Fires: Preparedness and Innovative Technologies.鈥� The event took place from 20 to 22 October 2025 in Istanbul, bringing together experts from UNFF Member States, CPF organizations, Major Groups, and regional and subregional partners.
The CLI featured:
- Two days of thematic discussions, including a high-level opening
- A technical field visit to T眉rkiye鈥檚 advanced forest fire management systems
- Exchanges on global strategies, policy frameworks, and innovative technologies (AI, drones, satellite monitoring) for wildfire preparedness and response
This initiative is a key step toward strengthening international cooperation on wildfire resilience and advancing the implementation of the UN Strategic Plan for Forests 2017鈥�2030.
