Peacebuilding Partners - New Zealand
New Zealand
December?2025
New Zealand is a steadfast partner of the UN in conflict prevention and peacebuilding. The Peacebuilding Support Office is grateful to New Zealand for responding to the Secretary-General's call for “quantum leap” support to increase the contributions made to the Peacebuilding Fund (PBF) for advancing and sustaining peace in countries affected by or at risk of violent conflict. New Zealand has contributed over $13 million since the Fund's inception, including $11.575 million towards the Fund's 2020-26 Strategy.?
New Zealand’s contribution also supports the PBF in peacebuilding efforts in regions such as the Pacific. In Fiji, the PBF is working with the Government and civil society to foster reconciliation, protect human rights, and build more inclusive communities. The project develops national reconciliation initiatives, strengthens human rights frameworks and institutions, and facilitates open dialogue to guide the country’s path toward greater unity and inclusion. ?
The contribution by New Zealand to the PBF also enables the Fund to foster inclusive peacebuilding processes, including those that support delivery against the Women, Peace and Security agenda. In Guinea, with support from the PBF, Care International helped launch a National Council of Women and Girls, opening space for women’s voices in 11 consultation platforms and strengthening their access to credit through partnerships with microfinance institutions. Building on this progress, women have since organized 24 community savings groups.?
