Ms. Fathmath Layana Ihusan (Maldives) has been serving as?a Deputy Desk Officer in the Middle East and Africa Division of the?Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives since 2024. In this role, she is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the implementation of bilateral agreements, facilitating inter-agency coordination, preparations for high-level ministerial visits and providing assistance with policy analysis on key?bilateral and multilateral issues across the region. She has also represented the Maldives in the multilateral fora, including as part of the delegation at the 11th Global Forum of the UN Alliance of Civilisations.

She previously served as an intern in the Multilateral Department, where she contributed to preparations for the 4th International Conference on Small Island Developing States and the 59th Session of the Human Rights Council, including drafting a policy brief outlining human rights priorities for the current presidential term. Layana graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) with Honours from the University of Liverpool in 2023. She is a native speaker in Dhivehi and proficient in English.
