Co-organized by the Permanent Missions of France and India to the United Nations, CTED, UNOCT, and the Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism (GIFCT), this CT Week side event will highlight the new and emerging risks and trends in terrorism financing and draw attention to the priority gaps and challenges to address these treats.
The discussions will promote a risk-based approach to countering the financing of terrorism (CFT), which lies at the core of Security Council resolution 2462 (2019), the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy, the Counter-Terrorism Committee’s Delhi Declaration and the Non-Binding Guiding Principles, and FATF Recommendations. The event will underscore the need for proportionate countering terrorism financing (CFT) measures, which can address risks and challenges while ensuring the appropriate balance between innovation, financial inclusion and security.
The CT Week side event will bring together relevant senior officials and counter-financing of terrorism experts from Members States, United Nations entities, international, subregional and regional organizations, and CFT experts from academia, civil society and the private sector.
This event is organized on the margins of the 2026 Counter-Terrorism week (CT Week). For more information visit: www.un.org/counterterrorism/en/2026-counter-terrorism-week
