, based in Brazil, exists to cocreate a sustainable and just world by empowering young women from the Global South to tackle the climate crisis, through a gender lens and intersectional approach.

Training women climate leaders
Through its Mulheres Pela Resiliência Climática (Women for Climate Resilience) programme, EmpoderaClima trains women community leaders from disaster-prone regions around Brazil to prevent, respond to and adapt to climate disasters, with justice at the forefront.
By strengthening local feminist leadership, women become key actors in protecting their communities during climate emergencies.
Bringing climate education to public schools
Through its EmpoderaClima nas Escolas (EmpoderaClima in Schools) programme, EmpoderaClima brings climate and gender-transformative education to public schools across Brazil.
Young students learn about climate justice, gender equity, the Sustainable Development Goals, but most importantly, they learn about their power to drive systemic change as youth leaders.
Amplifying youth voices for gender-just climate solutions
Our recent work at UN Climate Conference (COP30) in Belém, Brazil, is part of our main mission – EmpoderaClima creates spaces for women and youth to participate in and influence climate decision-making spaces, and gender and climate negotiations. From local to global spaces, youth and women's voices are being echoed – and heard.
