Today is the International Day of Peace. The UN will launch a new global advocacy and social mobilization campaign, Hear Us. Act Now for a Peaceful World, to recognize and empower young people as agents of peace. The campaign will be launched with an inaugural Peace Circle 鈥 an intergenerational dialogue on solutions facilitated by young people. The UN Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications, Melissa Fleming, will launch the campaign at the SDG Media Zone, which will also be attended by Mary Robinson from The Elders. The Campaign will contribute to the UN Secretary-General鈥檚 independent study on young people鈥檚 positive contribution to peace, which is expected in September 2026, as a direct outcome of the 2024 Pact for the Future.听听听

The Global Africa Business Initiative (GABI) will convene the , on the sidelines of the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Mid-Town Manhattan, New York. The event will be held on 21 and 22 September, and will bring together the private sector, governments, policymakers, global and regional stakeholders to develop actionable frameworks for Africa鈥檚 transformation; promoting trade and investment opportunities in Africa and the world.
